sea swim

 sea swim

time and tide

decide the time

pebbles roar

oh my toe

if the time is wrong

it is the wrong time

sand

now i like sand

i know where the rocks are

just below the donkey rock

is best

remember

the rain on the sea is never wet

and yet

it stinks

 it stinks

her royal highness

your un-royal lowness

that’s how it works

his royal highness

your un-royal lowness

that’s how it works

pro rege et patria

my mum used to say

"he (she) thinks his (her) shit don’t smell"

well everything about this stinks

if the crown fits

 if the crown fits

a king

a heir

and a spare

plebeians

in servitude

to attitude

many a platitude

is swallowed

by the multitude

we don’t need to be sheep

said the king of the sheep

to the mint sauce

comrades

which of you down there

is with me up here

if the crown fits ~ then what

in the warmth a war

 in the warmth a war

my face

eyes closed

in the sun

in a window

in a cottage

on a hillside

above a field

in wales

lamp light music

on a snoozing cat

in the moved sun

stretches

incredulity

winding down

 winding down

they say the telomere unwind

as the mitochondria reduce power and

as our eyes cloud over they see more clearly

what is it at the end of times

birth as a closure opens

a whole new can of worms

petrichor they whisper

behind the mercury

the currency of the mirror

as the barometer measures precious time

the torricelli vacuum has been fed

with the winds of change

it is awful this fall

but so much better this terminal velocity

than arrival

don’t you think

the future of futility

 the future of futility

the futility

of

a pope

a prince

and a footballer

as the world burns

winter no wonder land

 winter no wonder land

we poured water down the steps

in milk bottles from the tap opposite

to ice them to slide down

my cousin came to play

he fell over and bust his nose

and went home crying

the memory has slid down my laughter

ever since

i was ten

then
