Lifelines

Lifelines

There is no worthiness in the world
except to survive unrepented;
to wear the cloak of invincibility
woven by the poets, and vicariously
to look at the blue egg in its nest,
or at the flower on the chest
of the late lamented. But I think
I’ll just sit here in the sun;
I seem to be a bit demented.
