the eternal torment
and the torment
of a mind that knows
that it is in torment
what was sent to quell
the water’s ferment
was sent to hell
and yet is the bridge over flows
that toll the bell
upon the sandbanks of the delta
where every light in the tenement
is a tributary glowing elementa
