~ ~ the waves ~ ~

 ~ ~ the waves ~ ~

getting the cadence in

the rhythm of the waves

is to belong in the liquor tides

of the womb’s past times

when storm upon storm

shapes these isles

these beaches

rolled in the pebble’s teeth

against the sneers of yes

hard broiled between the deep and the sky

forever never asking why not

malleable

 malleable

paroxysmal tacky cardigan

the wool unshrivelling on every nail

at the bottom of the helter skelter

it is but a thread of who i was

so i tread the steps wearily

at the top the view is awesome

i know where some of the nails are now

how many rides in this life before …

the anatomy of fear

 the anatomy of fear

if you turn dark humour inside out

you will blush with the rectal mucosa

poking fun at a prolapsed ideology

requires a suitable sarcastic truss

a suitable torsion of the truth

for it is a painful realisation that

when faeces slides past beauty

only the proctoscope of the past

inserted with a careless giggle

can biopsy the stupidity of a time

brain storm

 brain storm

first one drop

and then another drop

first the breeze

and then the wind

first the light sky

and then it darkens

first one leaf falls

and then another

first one thought

and then the same thought

so what

i am going for my swim

sometimes

 sometimes

sometimes

it is just the sky on the wet sand

sometimes

it is a brief flash of sunlight on the surf

sometimes

it is being in the sea when it rains

sometimes

the sea is everything and there is nothing else

sometimes

it becomes always sometimes

the early morning sea and sky

the early morning sea and sky

those moments

when the sky impersonates the sea

before running away on the wind

laughing with the unleashed horses

as paranoid as the gulls

that argue with the groynes

as the shingle shushes

and shushes and shushes

the wet feet’s smirk

tomorrow will never be

tomorrow will never be

snow me a christmas snow flake

now the warmer days are here to stay

sing me a christmas carol

like on that yesterday

stand me under the street lamp baby

just like we used to do

not like the brightly mushroom cloud

i will never fall out of love with you

always was the last day

for every one in their day

they went we stay to say

he died baby so cry upon my shoulder

for soon every one will synchronise

the last demise of no one left to say

we saw it coming

when we were here it went

now we are all gone and it is bent

that timeline of the gods and of the godless

there is no more to say

so

on these latter days

no time for publications

like it was in the olden ways

say it ~ tweet it ~ NOW my baby

for tomorrow will never be

eggplants ~ two replies to a tweet

 eggplants

like engorged tics

hanging on to your blood

pop them and you’ll see more of your blood than tic

hellish this vision that so shines purple

sliced on the BBQs of hell

then there is the virgin pith

vestal white until fried like unbelieving eyes

hellish hellish

bloody tears congealed as eggplants

now we just look on in interest

the only fear disinterest

that one should show interest

but really

the ovens just cook eggplants

where are the fields of rye

the bitter spirit of the furnaces’ distillation

past caring for the past is no future

the dunnock

 the dunnock

sometimes bouncing along the bottom

sometime rustling up the hedge

a sparrow all most spotted

nearly always with a partner

browned off

days are spotted with joy

pecker up pecker up

it’s gone now

in the sunshine

between the roots of it

sometimes

 sometimes

it is enough

to lose count of the pebbles

in the cry of the tide’s mourning

to wait for an eye of rust to blink

or for the ocean to say sorry

and to mean it

but enough

is never enough

is it

the compendium of a cornucopia

 the compendium of a cornucopia

the past is a written poem

i am in it

you are in it

with me

my friends

between the lines

tears through the spaces

snakes and ladders

sorrow and joy

a compendium

a cornucopia

a poem

voting booth

remember that pencil on a string

before covid demanded recycling

where every hand tugged on the future

tense in the folding

at the end of a string of thoughts

the decision to be heard

berth

the sea speaks with the same voice as the rain

on the spume off the white horses blazing

a renegade sun steals the show

look i amaze to no one in there with me

how does one describe birth other than

by diving herein

paving stone pavement

 paving stone pavement

rain in every eye winks

on every slab and every slab togethers

the path where pallor alights on times past

the shortened gait of the footsteps of memory

the topology of touch under the wheels

of a child’s tricycle fast between

let’s go there

and let’s ride back

black whole

 black whole

the readers of my poems

are an accretion disc of distrust

spiralling into the black hole of my mind

twisting the gravity of normality

the jets approach relativistic speed

the inside becomes the outside

and vice versa

the reader the poet

and versa vice

jump in now

riches

 riches

all royalties are in the heart of the reader

in the catch of a breath

the quickening of a pulse

the laying open of a mind

to control by your words

without reservation or warranty

the drawing down of the collateral

of tomorrow

time’s erasure

 time’s erasure

they came in to the class and arrested him

the lad with the glass eye

he had stabbed someone

‘that was different’ we said

especially for a grammar school

but not surprising

he was a tough strange nut

his dad sold tyres

he opened a stationery shop

when he came out

erasure

genes

 genes

that feeling in our bones

it is in our genes

so may times around the sun

since homo sapiens begun

to worship the sun the moon and stars

the monorail that leads to mars

and all the wars that were will be

the death of you

the death of me

are shuffled in the births

of a gene’s genealogy

i like to go swimming with women

i like to go swimming with women

i like to go swimming with women

we like to go diving in the sea

i like to go swimming with women

they have a much bigger BMI than me

i like to go swimming with women

their bathing caps are sooo jolly

i like to go swimming with women

when the wind is blowing a capricious hooley

i like to go swimming with women

when the rain is needling me

shrieking with pleasure we are prone to

exchanging such pleasantries

i like to go swimming with women

towelling down in the sun on the rocks

i like to go swimming with women

they don’t look the same in their frocks

i like to go swimming with women

i’ll meet them again tomorrow you’ll see

me swimming again with the women

who are my companions in every rough sea

i like to go swimming with women

when the wind is in the east and we’re blue

i like to go swimming with women

i can certainly recommend it to you

so if you want to go swimming with women

then rotherslade is the place to be

there is room for plenty more women

to enjoy a winter swim with me

a reply to a tweet and a new follower

a reply to a tweet and a new follower

oh for that moment of youth again

when there is giving and taking

when the heart is enormous

the body but an appendage

a brush to gather electricity

to speed one off the rails

to turn one's heart inside out

inside another's inside out

where tomorrow doesn't exist

or today even

what is the plural of no

what is the plural of no

noses to the window

left the grindstone for a mo

steaming angor animi

they dared to ask for more

sorry no

the lords and ladies said

hard work will trickle you down

lard upon your daily bread

sick of this

and sick of that

they sat

and sat

and spat it out

try iambic CPR

 try iambic CPR

he’s a poet

he’s a poet

try iambic CPR

resuscitate

re-alliterate

but i think he’s gone too far

word shock him once

word shock him twice

try enjambment of the lines

monitor his vital signs

anon anon anon

i remember how signed

stand back stand back

we’ll try it one more rhyme

ker pow ker pow

come on you bloody fool

sign the contract here and now

i’ll guide the quill

i’ll grind the final pill

as posthumously pays the bill

we’ve privatised your very eyes

your every word is gold

we’ll call you a war poet of course

for you lost this battle sure

it will sell so many more muddy books

as you sink into the manure

so

say hello to god for me

make a space upon his shelf

i’ll spend some of your royalties here

before i join you there myself

kafka

 kafka

reading

he opened wiki

and found him

there he said

here he is at last

then he thought

what can i write about him

that others have not

he thought it best to wait a while

so he closed his eyes

the succession a success?

  the succession a success?

so all’s right with the world

            it all ends well

               after all

           we’ve seen

                well

        we’ll soon see

           won’t we

if the right one don’t get you

     then the left one will

gene genie

 gene genie

in the giving and the receiving of genes

lies the retroversion of a glimpse of infinity

through the wormhole of a singularity

all misunderstandings are understood

then we sleep for

the fusion has started

another link in the chain reaction

a parachute drop across the fens

high tide lies in coitus does it not

creepy is the word

 creepy is the word

it’s funny isn’t it

the more words you find and lay to rest

the more the insect thoughts seem to multiply

they creep under your skin before retreating

into the gyri and sulci of your brain

creeping under the arachnoid

only to reappear unchanged

shining even

crunch time soon

some time soon

clyne gardens

 clyne gardens

red said autumn

and who are we to disagree

with the falling light of light

upon the falling leaf

upon the stream that thought

the bridge had no end

but delight on the paths of never ending

that here around each corner see
